Instructions and important information about the Oasis OH-2 Digital Thermometer and Hygrometer..
Guitar Affair tested a wide variety of hygrometers to monitor the environment of our guitar fleet. Only a couple made the grade and one of those is the Oasis OH-2 digital thermometer and hygrometer. We love this device because it is accurate and it is small enough to fit nearly any guitar case.
Below you will find instructions on using your Oasis digital hygrometer and some information that will help you to make the best use of your new tool.
Cautions and Warnings
- This hygrometer is for INDOOR USE ONLY!!!
- DO NOT apply the unit to water, AC power or extreme weather conditions.
- DO NOT intend to dismantle the unit's internal components.
- DO NOT insert any used battery nor any other batter type except CR2032.
- Dispose of the used batteries properly.
Oasis Digital Hygrometer Mounting Instructions
There are two ways to mount the hygrometer, either on the clip or directly on the case. In either situation, it will be necessary to use the double sided tape enclosed with the package. If you plan to attach the hygrometer inside of the guitar case, YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS ADEQUATE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE HYGROMETER AND THE GUITAR. Otherwise, the hygrometer can easily damage your instrument when you close the case.
If you plan to attach teh hygrometer inside the case, the best location is directly over the sound hole (for acoustic guitars). This works only with arch top case that have sufficient clearance between the lid and the guitar (see warning above). Remove backing from one side of tape and attach to the back of teh hygrometer. Then remove the oterh backing and stick to the top of the case around the sound hole.
When using the clip to attach to the guitar case supply box, check which direction the supply box opens before attaching teh clip. If the flap opens from the left side of the supply box, the round side of the clip should be near the sensor openings. If the supply box opens from the right side, the round side of the clip should be near the word Oasis. Before attaching the clip to the back of the hygrometer, make sure that the clip extends about 1/4" beyond the end of the hygrometer.
The width of the supply box varies by guitar case. If you feel that the hygrometer is too close to the neck and may scratch the instrument. We recommend that you lay a small cloth under the neck near the hygrometer to prevent this from happening.

The unit will start functioning automatically once the battery insulating tape is pulled off.

Press ON / OFF button to turn on or power off the guitar hygrometer.
Battery Replacement
The hygrometer batter should be replaced whenever the unit no longer powers on, and at least once per year. To replace the battery, pull out the built-in compartment and replace the exhausted battery with a new CR2032 battery according to the polarity indicator. The guitar hygrometer will resume working again after a few seconds.
Minimum/Maximum Temperature and Humidity Recording
It is always good to know the humidity and temperature extremes that your guitar has been exposed to over a period of time. The Oasis guitar thermometer and hygrometer will record the minumum / maximum temperature and humidity automatically. Press the MAX - MIN button to read the maximum / minimum temperature and humidity since the last time the CLEAR button was pressed and the respective MAX or MIN indicator will be displayed.
To reset that maximum / minimum temperature and humidity settings, hold the CLEAR button for 2 seconds to reset the guitar hygrometer memory.
Centigrade / Farenheit Slide Switch
The hygrometer can display temperature in either Centigrade (C) or Farenheit (F). Use the slide switch to set the desired display unit.
