This is simply one of the most recognizable guitars in rock and roll, ever. The Karl Sandoval polka dot Flying V (Dot-V) was made for Randy in 1979, just before he left Quiet Riot to join Ozzy Osbourne. The guitar went on to be a rock and roll icon defining Randy’s grace and cutting edge guitar playing.
Randy contacted Karl to make this gem after checking out a custom V that Karl made for George Lynch. Since his death, a slew of company’s have knocked this guitar off. But, for Guitar Affair customers, we went to the source, master luthier Karl Sandoval himself.
Today, Karl offers custom made guitars, including the Dot-V. Our order was simple:
“Build it like Randy’s!”
Guitar Affair is proud to offer our customers an authentic Randy Rhoads Sandoval Dot-V, built exactly like Karl built the original for Randy. This guitar is amazing and somehow makes you feel special playing it because of its rich history.
The guitar has a beefy Gibson-like neck, which makes sense since Randy’s other favorite guitar at the time was a Les Paul.
Here’s a cool link of Randy playing his with Quiet Riot. It must have been shortly after he received it because he didn’t have it long before joining Ozzy:

Of all the guitars we stock, this guitar has one of the highest “cool factors”. If you’re a Randy Rhoads fan, you will get goosebumps when you first pick this up. The Dot V plays incredibly and it screams. Nothing like playing Crazy Train on an exact replica.
Unfortunately, we do not rep Sandoval guitars, so this instrument is not for sale. And, even though we don't offer Sandoval guitars, we are definitely big fans. That's why you can trust us. Please contact Karl Sandoval directly if you are interested in one of these beauties.
